What if I am not sure physiotherapy can help me?
Please feel free to telephone or email for advice without obligation on the suitability of your problem for physiotherapy treatment.
Will my health insurance company pay the physiotherapy fees?
Yes, Park House Physiotherapy Clinic is recognised as a provider for most insurance companies, but you may need a referral from your GP in order to claim. Please check your policy.
What should I wear?
Loose fitting and stretchy clothing is ideal. Shorts are recommended for lower limb problems and vest tops are suitable for upper limb problems. However, you may be required to partially undress, especially at the initial examination, depending on which part of the body is being treated. It is preferable that jewellery, perfume and body lotion is not worn.
Can I bring a friend or relative with me?
You are welcome to have somebody with you during your examination and treatment.
What should I expect from my first visit?
On the initial visit the physiotherapist will need to perform a thorough assessment. This begins with a talk about the problem and your general health. You will then have a physical assessment which will look into your movements and identify the affected tissues. This helps the physiotherapist make an accurate diagnosis of what the problem is which will then be explained to you. There is usually time to start the treatment on the first visit.
How many sessions will I need?
This will vary depending on the condition. However, it should be possible to give an indication of how many sessions you will need after the initial examination.
